Missing ITIL Process: Friendship in the Office
This week Nas looks at why it makes sense to form genuine friendships in the workplace...

  Nas Ozcan

This week I would like to discuss the importance of making friendships in the workplace. Many professionals in Service Management spend more time at work than they do with their own family and friends. So it would make sense to form genuine friendships in the office wouldn’t it?

Life is short as they say, and working in a highly pressurised environment with long hours is tough. But it can be tougher if you don’t enjoy the company of the people you work with and the end result of this is a pretty miserable life in my opinion. On the other hand, forming friendships in the workplace can make all the difference to having a great work/life balance.

Okay so you may not have to be friends with everyone in the work place. Sometimes personalities clash whether you like it or not. However making an effort to form friendships in the work place will result in you being happier for most of the day/week/month/year/life (you get the picture). You being happier will ultimately result in being more productive, positive and successful with a career in Service Management.

So next time you have the opportunity to go for lunch or after work drinks I hope you keep this blog in mind. Or better still why not be proactive and arrange the lunch/coffee break/after work drinks with colleagues to speed up the friendship making process!

Feedback and comments are always welcome!
